Why should you get to know _Mr_X?
I asked my friends to help me write this profile but I wasn’t happy with what they came up with so I’ve decided to go it alone. What do they know anyway? I mean, really, how hard can it be to sum up a person in a few hundred words?
They reckon if I admit to a love of classical music and opera, you’ll run away faster than someone running away very fast from the sad “listening to the music while reading the score and pretending he’s the conductor” guy. I can assure you, I’m not that guy. No, I just tend to lose myself in the music. I like the romance and beauty of it all. And with the “dressing up” ritual beforehand, a drink during the interval, and some good food and fine wine afterwards – what’s not to like? And anyway, I don’t only like classical; I like all sorts of other music too.
My friends also reckon that if I admit to a general cultural bias, you will take it that I’m overly serious and about as good company as a boring, polymath, intellectual – you know, like Stephen Fry – OK, bad example, but you know what I mean. Yes, I do like art galleries, the theatre, museums, visiting foreign cities, fine food and wine, but I have a lighter side too. I watch House MD, Miami Ink, and extreme makeover programmes. I read pulp fiction by John Le Carré, Lee Child and Michael Connelly. And I actually do like shopping.
I’m taking Modern Jive lessons, which has to be one of the easiest ways of making a complete idiot of yourself while having enormous fun. And I like walking in the Yorkshire Dales, which is a bit worthy I admit, but it’s a lot of fun too. I’m ashamed to say I’ve never skied but I’d jump at the chance to try.
On holiday, I like a mix of cultural stuff interspersed with time chilling by the pool or on the beach. Recently I had a great time in Hong Kong. I’m also keen to go on more short breaks to new cities.
I have a good job in PR that I enjoy. Two wonderful children whom I adore. And am lucky enough to be in good health.
